In this chapter, Linda talks about how the slavemasters try to get the slaves to obey them and why they want them to obey. She states, the masters send the slaves to church so they can obey them and don't try to kill their masters. When Linda goes to church the only thing really that the reverend talks about is obeying masters. Rev. Mr. Pike says if you don't obey your master God will see you and it offends him.
I think the master and reverend are very ignorant and wrong for teaching slaves what they believe. Jesus and God don't want slavery in the first place but put slavery in the world for a reason. It doesn't say anywhere in the bible that you should obey your slave masters! In conclusion, the slave masters were wrong for teaching them that.
