Chapter 4 of Emersons Nature

In this chapter he talks about how Language is very similiar to nature. He states that there are three reasons why they connect: 1. Words are signs of natural facts, 2. Particular facts are symbols of spirtual facts, 3. Nature is the symbol of spirt. When he states that words are natural facts he means every word that people use are roots from another word. That makes them natural facts. Next, he says facts are symbols of spirtual facts- he trying to say that every fact is a symbol of some spiritual fact. Last Emerson talks about how nature is a symbol of spirt because we as humans are assisted by natural objects in nature who tell us many meanings.
