• Blog – How does Linda finally attain her freedom? Why does she have mixed emotions about this at the end of the book?
Linda attains her freedom by getting freedom as a slave from the new Mrs. Bruce. Mrs.Bruce signed a paper stating that Linda was free. She has many mixed emotions from being a slave to being free. When Linda first goes to the north she feels that she is free but treated the same. She has to pay for a ride to get to New york and realizes that it cost alot of money. Linda is free as a slave but doesn't actually feel free, she is not use to being free. After she becomes free, she ends up writing her book as a slave.
