• Blog – Why does Linda get so upset when her daughter is given a gold necklace to wear? What is she comparing that act to? Do you agree with the comparison?

I think Linda should be upset with the gold necklace chain. She gets upset because the necklace that she got symbolizes the chain that slaves wear. The necklace was given to her to make her think that she is going to be a slave for the rest of her life. She wants her daughter to be set free, and not be a slave for her hole life. I agree with the comparison because the necklace represents chains that slaves wear, the white masters and mistresses want them to think that they will be slaves for their hole life.
