Blog – Is Eustace the ‘last American man’? Why or why not? Is that idea a good or bad one?
I think Eustace isn't the last american man because over the book he has changed into a controlling person who migrates from nature. Over the book I think he has turned in some way like his dad. He formed some of his dad's attributes like being very controlling and trying to have every thing perfect. I think there are many reasons why he loses his girlfriends but the main reason he lost them is of very controlling. An example of him being controlling is with Dauna in the forest. I also, think he has moved from the nature side is because it feels like he building all of these new industrial things and wanting to live in a house with ten kids.
Eventhough he seems controlling, I don't think of it as bad but I feel he wants to move on from this hardcore nature gut to a person who lives in the nature but doesn't do everything there. In conclusion, he dreams of something like a new life with a wife and kids.
