Chapter 6

• Blog – Nick tells us the truth about Gatsby in this chapter. Speculate why Gatsby makes up the lie, and why Nick decides to tell us at this point in the book.

I believe Gatsby makes up those lies so people wont judge him for what happen. People might stereotype him that he didn't earn his money the corect way, that he got it from someone else that he met. Also, people might not want to be his friend cause he used to be a janitor and he dropped out of college. Mainly, Gatsby dosen't want to tell people because he dosen't want people to judge him and also for some of his friends, he dosent want to tell them that he lied. It would be to late to explain his real backround and if he did they might not ever talk to him. Nick decides to tell the readers at this point because its the right time. If he told it too early, the readers wouldn't have made a good judgement of Gatsby, if he told too late the book would be as good as it seems. Lastly, Nick didn't tell earlier beacuse he felt he didn't have the right truth about Gatsby but now he knows the real truth about him so he told.

In addition, the yacht he saw, who was owned by Codey, inspired him to make some some money but lots of it since he lived in the wealthy world. So he thought of a way to get the money to join to mob. ( that wasn't a main focus though). Also, Nicks wants us to feel how he felt when he figured out this big lie, after all they went through and what Gatsby shared with him thats why he telling us now.
